SaferGems Initiative – Security Advice to the Jewellery Sector
SaferGems, an initiative launched in 2009 following a concern about the increase in crime in the Jewellery, Pawnbroker, Arts and Antiques industry, collates data on attacks, suspicious incidents and intelligence across the UK.
The operation is funded by the jewellery industry through the National Association of Jewellers and TH March Insurance Brokers. It is hosted by The British Security Industry Association (BSIA).
As part of its drive to enhance security of premises, SaferGems has recently distributed the following advice alert recommending their members contract alarm installers approved by a UKAS accredited certification body, such as NSI.
