Types of access control systems

There are a variety of product designs and levels of sophistication as requirements can vary. It is not only the hardware elements that need to be fit for purpose: system design must also address specific applications and the planned use.

A number of different recognition access technologies can be deployed:

Something known to the user, e.g. a PIN code
Something carried by the user e.g. a token or fob
A unique identifier e.g. a biometric such as a fingerprint

The design of the system will also depend on how many doors or access points need to be secured. Your NSI installer can advise on all of these aspects.
