Security Matters Magazine – ‘On Inspection’ – New British Standard on Labour Provision

In the latest edition of Security Matters magazine, NSI’s new CEO Richard Fogelman explains how an upcoming British Standard, BS 10119 for the Provision of Labour in the Security and Events Sector, will take forward the National Security Inspectorate’s Code of Practice NCP 119, addressing potential weaknesses in security labour procurement.

Originally this Code of Practice was launched by NSI in 2020 to address the need for end-to-end oversight of the labour supply chain and provide buyers with confidence that their main security or events management would deliver a robust security labour supply chain for the benefit of wider public safety. When supply chain partners gain approval to the Code, it serves as evidence to buyers that the supply chain is dedicated to fulfilling legal obligations and complying with specific environmental, social, and governance criteria in the delivery of services.

The development of NCP 119 into a British Standard, which focuses on this specific risk area, represents significant progress and demonstrates the security industry’s commitment to the public, security service buyers, labour contractors and sector workers.
