NSI and BIFM: together raising standards

The Conference ‘Competitive Advantage through the Workplace’, attended by over 300 senior FM professionals from both the public and private sectors, focussed on how FM brings cost effective quality services together to ensure productive and safe working environments.

Introduced by TV’s Natasha Kaplinsky, the full programme features industry-leader interviews and news-style reports. ExCeL London and UCL are showcased as part of the feature, where the deployment of NSI approved companies provides reassurance of the effectiveness of the security and fire safety systems in place.

Douglas Barnett, Chairman of BAFE, the fire sector’s quality registration body, explains in the programme, how those responsible for fire safety can benefit from selecting independently approved expert service providers, such as NSI approved companies.

Richard Jenkins, NSI CEO stated “We are delighted to contribute to this BIFM programme.  NSI has over 40 years’ experience of assessing companies who work in the security environment, verifying their compliance against the sector-specific standards.  Our national team of full-time specialist auditors complete in the region of 4000 rigorous audit visit reports per year for the UK’s premier security and fire safety companies, providing the necessary peace of mind to FM professionals and to those whose responsibility it is to ensure the safety of people, property and assets throughout the UK.

We recognise the value of working with BIFM to deliver our message of reassurance and the need for robust standards of practice in security and fire safety to a wider audience.”

Speaking about NSI’s contribution to the ITN Productions programme and the contribution NSI approved companies make to the security and fire sector, Gareth Tancred, BIFM CEO comments:

“Security and fire safety are integral parts of any facilities management provision.  As such, we have made the subject one of the centrepieces of our new Competitive Edge current affairs programme.  I am delighted that NSI were able to get involved and highlight this important aspect of the FM industry.  I also want to acknowledge the valuable contribution NSI approved companies make to the security and fire sector and the value they bring to those in the facilities management industry.  The BIFM look forward to working with NSI in the future.”

Securing the safety of people and assets in the workplace has never been more of a challenge. NSI is passionate about meeting the challenge. Across the UK its 1800 approved companies are delivering those standards every day. NSI Gold approved companies lead the way in raising standards of security and making it a reality.
