FIREX International 2014
Attending Excel was an opportunity for NSI to meet with end users, public sector representatives and security and fire professionals. We were delighted with the number of visitors who made the effort to come and talk to us. Whether it was for certification, training or general industry queries, the NSI staff were kept busy.
NSI once again supported the Engineers of Tomorrow Security Skills Challenge. NSI auditors adjudicated the challenge in which pairs of young apprentices competed to complete the challenge within a set time. This excellent annual event showcases the skills of up and coming talent in the security industry. Congratulations to the heat winners for each of the three days:
- Tuesday: Joshua Griggs-Burton from CIA and Daniel Winearls from Micro-Vision
- Wednesday: Andrew McCullough and Darrell Gilmour from Kings Security
- Thursday: Michael Fenton from ElecSec UK Ltd and Sean Hillman from Guest Fire and Security
Thursdays winners were presented with their heat prizes by Richard Jenkins, NSI Chief Executive.
Overall 1st, second and third place winners will be announced at the Security Excellence Awards in London later this year, where the top 3 prizes will be presented. Good luck to them all!
The launch of the 100 in 100 initiative took place at IFSEC on Wednesday 18th June. Sitting amongst industry leaders, Richard Jenkins, endorsed the apprenticeship drive on behalf of NSI.
There are many incentives to employ an apprentice in your business. View the video filmed at IFSEC outlining the benefits to you and your business of the 100 in 100 apprentice drive.
Another particular highlight last week were the NSI medal presentations that took place on our stand. IP Fire and Security, Integrated Visual Protection, Tensor PLC and Braniff Partnership all received their prestigious Gold medals presented by Richard Jenkins and the NSI senior management team.
Edward Cusack, Braniff Partnership Founder and CEO said “We are delighted that Braniff Partnership has passed, with flying colours, the rigorous audit process aligned to being awarded NSI Gold status. We are the next generation of security risk specialists and this prestigious award is a significant achievement for the Braniff team, a real benchmark of excellence for our company and our clients.”
Our prize draw at the show generated considerable interest. We will be announcing the winner of our Fortum and Mason Hamper (courtesy of creative design agency Maxx Design Ltd) early next week, together with the winners of our complimentary training places. Follow us on Twitter to see the winners announced.
On the first day of the event, we made a four minute film which was broadcast at both FIREX and IFSEC. It was a great opportunity to showcase the role that NSI plays in raising standards in the security and fire sectors and the benefits of being NSI approved.
