Article by Richard Jenkins, NSI Chief Executive, in Professional Security magazine – the Madrid Police Model for Reducing False Alarms

In this month’s edition of Professional Security magazine, NSI Chief Executive, Richard Jenkins, summarises the key points from a presentation by Inspector Angel Martinez Sendino of the Madrid Police’s Central Private Security Unit at the OSPAS’s Thought Leadership Summit, which took place earlier this year in London.

The security systems false alarm rate in Spain has fallen dramatically in the wake of private security regulatory measures introduced in 2011.  Inspector Sendino provided unique insight into the Spanish model, explaining how the lessons learned could benefit the Police and private security sector in the UK.

Following Inspector Sendino’s presentation, a lively panel discussion took place considering how the UK could apply the learnings from the Spanish experience to further reduce the UK false alarm rate.  Representatives from the NPCC’s Security Systems Group, Police Crime Prevention Initiatives, BSIA and NSI participated in the panel.

Read the article and gain valuable insight from the panel discussion on pages 66 and 68.
