UKAS Launches New Online CertCheck Database
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) has today announced the launch of a new ‘CertCheck’ database - a free-to-use online database that allows all users to independently verify UKAS accredited management system certifications.
The database enables customers to verify their chosen NSI approved company holds UKAS accredited management system certification, validating the credibility of their approval. It also acts as a barrier to fraudulent or misleading claims of accredited certification. When a company becomes approved by NSI (and when re-certificated every three years), they will be issued with a Certificate of Approval which bears the UKAS logo.
Initially the UKAS CertCheck database will focus on management system certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and therefore will only be relevant to those NSI Gold Approved Companies who hold one or more management system certifications.
UKAS has indicated its intent to broaden the database in the future to include product certifications (British & International technical standards and codes of practice) which would see both Silver and Gold Approved Companies registered on the database.
NSI recognises the importance of UKAS accreditation as the foundation which ensures consistency and integrity across the board in all Certification Bodies and welcomes the launch of this database which provides an additional vehicle for supply chain visibility, increasingly important in today’s business world.
NSI approved companies should refer to Circular Letter NSI 015 22 for more information.
