Security Matters Magazine – ‘On Inspection’

 

In the June edition of Security Matters magazine, NSI CEO Richard Fogelman highlights the critical importance of keeping up-to-date with legislation aimed at improving the security of connectable consumer products.

As part of the Government’s £2.6 billion National Cyber Strategy aimed at safeguarding and promoting the UK online, the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act 2022 came into effect in April, giving consumers and businesses vital protection from cyber attacks.

The Act serves as a formidable deterrent against non-compliance, with penalties reaching a maximum fine of £10 million or 4% of worldwide turnover for breaches not remedied within the time frame allowed by the Office for Product Safety and Standards, itself part of the Department for Business and Trade and which enforces the UK’s product safety regulations.
