NSI Installer Summit – What a hoot!
This was the third Installer Summit that NSI has hosted, dedicated to the needs of NSI approved companies who operate in the electronic security and fire safety sectors.
With over 40 exhibitors, a conference programme with high profile speakers, afternoon NSI Summit Sessions, a celebrity guest (Matt Allwright, BBC journalist and presenter) and a VIB, the ‘NSI owl’ , there was something for everyone!
Over 200 representatives from installation companies attended and we have been delighted with the feedback so far received.
The NSI Installer Summit proved again that NSI installers have a tremendous appetite for knowledge about how they can grow their business and keep them at the leading edge, delivering the highest standards to end users of fire safety and security alarm services.
The Summit Conference was an opportunity to hear from a variety of speakers including Ken Meanwell, Staff Officer, Security Systems Group at ACPO on the future of ACPO which is soon to be replaced (on 1st April 2015) by the National Police Chief’s Council – NPCC, and Tony Porter, Surveillance Camera Commissioner at the Home Office, on the challenges of widening use of CCTV for all forms of public and private space surveillance.
Technical Summit Sessions were held later in the day and these also proved especially popular with many delegates spoilt for choice with a variety of subjects including ISO 9001:2015 the transition for installers, Keeping Fire Skills up-to-date (FPA), Selling tips ‘Grudge Purchase or Positive Investment’ (RISCO), The Use of Mobile Devices for controlling Alarm Systems, and an Update on Access Control systems. There was also an opportunity in the afternoon for NSI Installers to give direct feedback to Tony Porter regarding the Surveillance Code of Practice.
Richard Jenkins, NSI Chief Executive comments:
“NSI is committed to providing up-to-date relevant information to its approved companies, and delivering it in the best possible way. The NSI Installer Summit has a key role to play in achieving our objectives, and will remain part of our planning going forward.
We are proud our NSI approved companies lead the way in the security and fire sectors and it is important to us that we support and educate them in the latest technologies, industry standards and best practice.”
