A Proud Moment for NSI: John Davidson Receives the FSA’s Top Honour
We are delighted to share that our very own John Davidson has been awarded the 2025 Fire & Security Association (FSA) Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Security Industry.
John is an NSI Technical Services Manager and was previously our Head of Field Operations (Systems) for many years. This prestigious award was presented to him at the ECA Industry Awards Dinner on Friday 10 October 2025 at the Hilton London Bankside. All attending agreed it was a fitting end to a lovely evening celebrating excellence across the electrotechnical and security sectors.
Presented annually, the FSA Award for Outstanding Contribution honours people who have made a significant and lasting impact on the UK’s fire and security industries. With over 31 years’ experience in the sector, John has been a steadfast advocate of quality, standards and professionalism across the fire and security sectors.
John recently celebrated a 20-year milestone with NSI. He is widely respected by colleagues and industry peers for his technical expertise, integrity and fair-minded approach to advancing standards and raising the bar across the industry.
Our CEO, Richard Fogelman put it best, remarking, “John’s contribution to the UK’s security industry has been remarkable. His depth of technical knowledge, integrity and leadership have had a lasting influence, both within NSI and across the wider community. This award is richly deserved and we’re incredibly proud to see his achievements recognised.”
Proud we are indeed! But let’s leave the last word to John Davidson himself. Ever magnanimous he told us, “I’m honoured to receive this award from the FSA. It’s been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated professionals across the fire and security industries who share the same goal – maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and trust.
“It’s hugely rewarding to see my contribution recognised by my peers. I see this recognition as a reflection of the great work being done across the sector as a whole.”

The FSA Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Security Systems Industry is the longest-established individual award in the sector established in memory of Peter Greenwood, former head of the ECA’s Security Group, following his untimely death in 1995 who was renowned for his enthusiasm and selfless concern for the sector.
