In the September 2022 issue of Security Matters magazine, Richard Jenkins, NSI CEO, in his latest regular and exclusive ‘On Inspection’ article for the magazine, analyses the implications of the recent reduction in the number of assessing bodies delivering assessments for the Security Industry Authority’s Approved Contractor Scheme and explains why this is a positive step forward
With one of the four Security Industry Authority (SIA) appointed assessing bodies withdrawing from Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) assessment activity earlier this year, Richard discusses how this could be a positive development for the Industry and all parties with an interest in the ACS. The three remaining assessing bodies, of which NSI is one, are assessing some 800+ companies ranging from small ‘micro’-sized businesses through to national players, who hold ACS approval for activities including security guarding, Cash and Valuables in Transit, close protection, door supervision and Public Space Surveillance (CCTV)
Richard comments the reduction in assessing bodies will bring benefit to all parties concerned in the sector. Fundamentally, the new three pronged ACS assessment body regime will mean a far greater degree of consistency, on the premise that key to any continuous improvement initiative designed to improve standards, is to lessen variation in the quality of output..
