NPCC Releases 2025 Policy Update for Police Response to Security Systems

The National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) has issued its updated Police Operational Advice and Security Industry Requirements for Response to Security Systems for 2025. This update is relevant to all security system installation companies who offer police response security systems and Alarm Receiving Centres operating in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The new version introduces a number of changes, including strengthened documentation requirements, clearer terminology for monitoring centres, updated guidance on audio challenge usage and revisions to false alarm definitions and administrative processes.

The policy continues to reference guidance published by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), including the Cybersecurity Code of Practice for Safety and Security Systems and the new Guidance for the Prevention and Reduction of  Dual-Path Alarm Transmission Failures.  NSI has played a key role in contributing to the development of these BSIA resources, helping to shape industry best practice.

NSI certified companies have been notified about the changes in NSI Circular Letter 006/25 and associated Annex to understand how these changes may impact their operations and to ensure continued compliance.
