/ NSI Supports World Accreditation Day – 9th June

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI), the UK’s most widely recognised, independent UKAS accredited certification body approving companies within the security and fire safety sectors is proud to support World Accreditation Day taking place on Saturday 9th June 2018.

Launched by the IAF (international Accreditation Forum) and ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation), World Accreditation Day is a global initiative to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation and this year’s theme focuses on “delivering a safer world”.

Celebrations will take place across the globe in the form of major events and media coverage including an event hosted by UKAS, the UK Accreditation Service, for public sector officials at the House of Lords.

World Accreditation Day highlights how today’s expectation of safety, whether in the places where we live, work and relax, the products we use, the food we eat or how we travel, is often not matched by reality.  Closing this gap requires close collaboration between government, regulators and businesses.

NSI’s role is to help keep people safer in their work and home environments when it comes to security and fire protection by independently assessing the competence of organisations across a wide range of services from the installation of CCTV, intruder alarms and access control to guarding services and life safety fire risk assessments, a legal requirement for any organisation employing more than five people.

Richard Jenkins, NSI Chief Executive commented: “World Accreditation Day is a significant moment for us all to build awareness of accreditation in raising standards of safety and security. For over 45 years we have been protecting businesses, homeowners and the general public by independently auditing companies within the security and fire safety sectors.

“Today over 1800 companies are approved by NSI against the relevant British and international standards and codes of practice for the services they deliver.   NSI approval is a benchmark of competence and a trusted hallmark for buyers of security systems, fire safety and guarding services.”
